As an organic hair specialist, I tend to get asked the same 4 questions on the regular! In this blog, I will be answering each question and giving you recommendations and tips in order to live your best hair life!
“There is so much conflicting information about hair wash schedules. How often should I wash my hair?”
Now, this can vary from person to person. When asked this question, I will advise my client depending on their hair health and type.
As a general rule though, you should only wash your hair 2-3 times per week MAX. To get even more specific - I’ve briefly broken it down for you:
Fine Hair = every other day: Fine hair has a smaller diameter than other hair textures. It’s easily overwhelmed by the natural sebum or oil that the scalp produces and therefore may appear greasy after a day or two.
Medium Hair = every 2-4 days: Medium hair is a bit thicker in diameter than fine hair, so it can stand to go a little longer between washes.
PSA: If your hair doesn’t look like it needs to be washed (not greasy, oily, dirty) - feel free to wait another day or so!
Coarse Hair = every 3-7 days: Coarse hair doesn’t get oily as fast as fine or medium hair. This means you can go even longer in between washes if you have coarse hair. Hallelujah!
I can go more in-depth on this topic, talking about every hair type/texture and their individual needs but I thought I would try to keep this short and sweet!
If you do want more information about this area then please let me know!
“I’ve heard hair dye is really damaging. Is natural hair colouring just as bad?"
I've spoken about this previously in my blog and for people wanting to colour their hair, the perceived damaging effects can be a huge turn off.
And yes, conventional hair dye can be damaging for your hair especially the more frequent you use it.
I choose to prioritise your hair condition and therefore all products I use are 100% organic, vegan and cruelty free. Not only are using these products better for the environment, they are also so much better for your hair.
Organic hair colouring can produce the same if not better results than conventional hair dyes, lasting just as long, all whilst minimising hair damage and breakage.
Of course, no hair colouring can be 100% damage or harm free. That’s why it is so important to look after your hair in between appointments by continuing to use organic, natural hair care products to maximise your hair health.
This leads me nicely to my next commonly asked question!
“There are so many hair brands and products out there. What should I be using?”
I want to be transparent with you all - I will not recommend, work with or sell any product that I don’t use myself or love!
That’s why I am so confident to recommend the Daniel Field products to you.
Daniel Field is a pioneer for Organic & Mineral and world-famous for creating organic and safe products - making him an advocate for sustainability and the environmental movement too.
Their line of hair products really is a one stop shop for all of your hair care needs and will compliment and protect your hair colouring really well.
I’m so excited to begin selling these products on my website very soon and will be talking more about them over on my Instagram regularly.
“I’m really struggling to decide on my next colour. What hair colour would suit me?”
I get this question A LOT and while of course you should choose whatever colour your heart desires and that makes you feel the most confident and happy - however, it may help to know how you can determine the best fit and see if it’s the one for you!
I’ve written a blog post all about How To Match Your Hair Colour To Your Skin Tone & Aura, which will point you in the right direction.
Furthermore, all appointments with me include a free consultation where we can discuss you, your personality, style, and preferences and I will help you find your perfect colour!
